APTP

The Anti Police-Terror Project began as a project of the ONYX Organizing Committee. We are a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. Founding coalition members include the Black Power Network, Community Ready Corps, Workers World and the Idriss Stelley Foundation. APTP is not a non-profit organization.

Rescheduled Townhall: Community Input for Independent Oversight of Police

  • Allen Temple Baptist Church 8501 International Boulevard Oakland, CA, 94621 United States (map)

UPDATE: This event was originally scheduled for October 9. It has been postponed until October 16 due to the power outages in Oakland.

In September, APTP released a paper on best practices for independent police oversight based on our legal research, impacted families input, and lessons learned from the Oakland Police Commission, with areas to improve.

Join with us to learn more about the Oakland Police Commission and participate in a community conversation on APTP’s findings. Hear Police Commission Vice Chair and community representative Ginale Harris. We need to help inform the City Council as they draft a ballot measure which can make sure Oakland’s Police Commission has effective oversight.
